Goochland and its surrounding rural communities have long held a tradition based on an agricultural economy. The history, the stories and music, the arts and crafts, and the traditions all create a cultural tapestry woven from the "fiber" of a land-based lifestyle. Our mission is simply to sustain the rural culture of Goochland and its neighboring rural communities in Virginia's Piedmont region by educating, promoting, and inspiring ourselves and others. The Center's work is challenging in the face of development pressures and it is up to each of us to preserve the cultural tapestry that makes us unique as a rural community. The purpose of this site is to educate, promote and inspire individuals seeking to sustain the rural culture of Goochland and Virginia's Piedmont. Visitors will find information about Center activities, links to other sites, and information on sustainability. |
